JOSEPH M. SALINO

Picture of Joey

ITHACA - Joseph M. Salino, 52, of 484 Troy Road, Ithaca, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, New York. He was born in Ithaca on April 9, 1957. Joey is survived by Maria Cacciotti Salino, his wife of 29 years, his children Christina, Tyler, Michael, and his mother, Jeanne Morusty Salino. He was pre-deceased by his father Joseph F. Salino. Joey is also survived by his sister Patricia (Ron) Hunt, brother Todd (Belinda) McGill, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews from the Salino family. He leaves his mother-in-law Barbara Cacciotti and grandmother Marian Amandes, along with sisters-in-law, Lisa (Steve) Garrison, Christa (Dave) MacLean and nieces and nephews from the Cacciotti family. Joey was a loving and devoted husband, father and son who always put his family first. He provided guidance and support to all of his children's friends, his own close friends and family, as well as his employees. "Saline" loved spending time with his buddies and was always ready and willing to lend a hand. Christina, Tyler and Mike's friends loved him dearly and many called him Dad. Everyone who met Joey became a lifelong friend and considered themselves to be truly blessed, "fortunato" for having known him. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church with Reverend Leo Reinhardt. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, April 5 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Bangs Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joey's memory, to Hospicare and Palliative Care Services, 172 East King Road, Ithaca.

Note from the funeral bulletin

As everyone who met him knew, Joey loved life and he loved people. What made him so special was not only the love he showed toward all of his family and friends, but also complete strangers. I guess for Joey, there was no such thing as a stranger, just a friend he hadn't met yet. If you needed something, Joey had it - it was already yours. In many ways he exemplified what it meant to be the Good Samaritan. Joe will be surely missed by the thousands of people whose lives were touched by him, but most of all Maria, Christina, Tyler, Michael, Jeanne, Tricia and Todd. We will miss him immensely, but we know that he is rejoicing in Heaven with his Lord. Thank you to everyone who has shown us such love and generosity during these difficult days.

With all our love,

The Salino Family
